Joseph C. Sible dfb71fea22 Fix gen_latex on Debian and Ubuntu 
Debian and Ubuntu don't provide pdftopng in the xpdf package. Instead,
they want you to use "pdftoppm -png" from the poppler-utils package.
Use that if pdftopng doesn't exist.
